Core dynamics: The EU “green barriers” continue to rise, and domestic safety regulations create endogenous demand for high-quality sealing products.
In October, in the sealing materials industry, “green” and “safety” are no longer mere promotional slogans but hard indicators related to corporate survival. In export markets, the EU, through the regulatory system built by its Green Deal, is systematically raising access standards for industrial consumables. This month, its discussion on restrictions of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in polymer products has entered the substantive legislative preparation stage. This means that traditional PTFE thread seal tape and its composite products, if they cannot provide a clear and verifiable environmental data chain—from raw material traceability to harmful substance content in finished products—will face the risk of being shut out of the European market.
This trend is triggering two major chain reactions: first, it greatly enhances the value of third-party environmental certifications (such as SGS, EU CE mark), and companies possessing these certifications occupy an overwhelming advantage in competition for export orders. Second, it is driving a race for a “green supply chain.” Leading companies are no longer satisfied with the compliance of their own products and have begun to push upstream suppliers in reverse to carry out environmental transformation, ensuring full-chain compliance from the source. This has gradually transformed environmental capability from a passively addressed “cost center” into a “value engine” capable of obtaining premiums and locking in high-end customers.
At the same time, in the domestic market, a nationwide safety production inspection lasting several months has entered a critical stage. This round of inspection places particular emphasis on fundamentally solving “leakage and dripping” problems in high-risk fields such as chemicals, oil and gas transportation, and urban gas. This brings structural opportunities for industrial-grade sealing solutions. Products such as high-performance liquid thread sealant and specialty thread sealing cord, which previously were at a disadvantage in price competition, have seen demand rapidly activated due to their reliability and long-term effectiveness under extreme working conditions. Purchasers’ decision-making logic has shifted from “lowest price first” to “safety and optimal total cost,” giving suppliers who can provide complete technical solutions, rather than merely selling products, unprecedented market opportunities.
