Old Residential Community Potable Water Pipeline Renovation — Liquid Thread Sealant Overcomes Corner Leakage Challenges
Project BackgroundA potable water pipeline renovation project in an old residential community in a city in South China, involving the replacement of inlet pipelines for more than 1,200 households. The original pipelines had been in use for over 20 years, and the joints generally suffered from chronic leakage caused by aging thread seal tape and corroded threads.
Core ChallengesThe inlet pipelines had many corners and narrow operating spaces. Traditional PTFE thread seal tape was difficult to wrap evenly at corners, and the skill levels of construction personnel varied, resulting in a high rework rate. Meanwhile, potable water pipelines have strict regulatory requirements for the hygiene and safety of sealing materials.
SolutionThe construction contractor selected FORWA green liquid thread sealant (potable water dedicated). This product uses self-developed food-grade materials, is non-toxic and odorless, and does not breed bacteria. After curing, it forms a tough solid that does not fragment or fall off, fundamentally eliminating the risk of clogging filters and water systems. During application, it only needs to be evenly applied, without wrapping technique or direction judgment, making it particularly suitable for complex scenarios such as corners and narrow spaces.
